Psychotherapy questions
Below are answers to some questions I am frequently asked about psychotherapy and the psychotherapeutic process:
Psychotherapy questions in general:
Will psychotherapy work for me?
Does psychotherapy work. The answer in your particular case depends on a whole host of factors: your willingness to commit your full energy to the therapeutic process, the fit between your style and my style of working, my professional competence (yes, I said that too) and so on. As a result, I cannot guarantee that you will get results or make any progress. Anyone who promises or guarantees you results is either a charlatan or desperate to attract as many patients as possible. But what I can tell you is that I regard as a personal failure any psychotherapeutic process that does not bring about change. So what I can promise you is that I will do everything in my power to avoid feeling incompetent.
The price per session can be found on the rates page
The total cost depends on the length of psychotherapy. Sessions are payable either one at a time or in advance but no more than 12 (payment in advance is agreed).
How long does psychotherapy last?
It depends on the nature of the problem you come for and many other factors. In general, results are minor after 3 months of psychotherapy. This means that you should come for about 12 sessions to get significant results.
Is it possible to do psychotherapy by email/SMS?
Theoretically it is possible, but the therapeutic relationship (on which the success of the therapy depends to a large extent) cannot be established in these conditions of low visibility or even anonymity. This is why I only work face to face and online, via Skype or other applications, with people who are not in Bucharest. Or, in short, I might but I don’t want to because I don’t find it useful.
Psychotherapy questions in private:
Do you have any women in your practice?
Only when the patient is a woman, the psychotherapist is only me. And the skills of a psychotherapist are not determined by gender.
“Do you have children? Are you married? We’d better talk about the problems you came to the office for.
In psychotherapy the compatibility between psychotherapist and patient is validated in the office, not outside it.
