Terms and conditions of use of psychotherapy services
Welcome to Therapy Matters!
These terms and conditions describe the rules and regulations for use of the Therapy Matters website, located at therapymatters.co
By accessing this website we assume that you accept these terms and conditions. Do not continue to use Therapy Matters if you do not agree to accept all of the terms and conditions stated on this page.
The following terminology applies to these Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Statement and the Disclaimer and all Agreements: “Client”, “You” and “You” refers to you, the person accessing this site who complies with the Company’s terms and conditions. “Company”, “We”, “Us”, “Company”, “We”, “Our Company” and “Us” refer to our Company. “Party”, “Parties”, “Parties” or “We”, refers to both the Customer and ourselves. All terms refer to the offer, acceptance and consideration of payment required to undertake the process of assistance from us to the Customer in the most appropriate manner for the express purpose of meeting the Customer’s needs in relation to the provision of the Company’s stated services, in accordance with and subject to applicable Dutch law. Any use of the above terminology or other words in the singular, plural, capitalized and/or he/she or they, shall be deemed to be interchangeable and therefore to refer to the same thing.
Confidentiality:
All patient identifying information is strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone for any reason unless requested by a state institution under a court order.
Case-related information (without implying the disclosure of the identity of patients or specific details that might allow identification) may be used for scientific or academic purposes, for supervision and intervention, or for the promotion of the practice, the psychotherapist and the psychotherapeutic discipline in general.
Organisation of psychotherapy sessions:
Individual psychotherapy will be structured in 3-month therapeutic modules (once a week – more frequently only in special situations), followed by a 1-month break. The patient is not limited in any way as to the number of therapeutic modules followed successively. The organisation of psychotherapy in 3-month modules should not give the patient the impression that, whatever the situation for which he comes to the practice, 3 months of psychotherapy will be sufficient to bring about a change in his life. Depending on the nature of his situation, 3 months may or may not be enough. The 1 month break between modules is meant to speed up the therapeutic process (allowing information to reorganize), not to put the patient in a race against time towards change.
Consistency and punctuality
Whatever the form of organisation (individual, couple or group) psychotherapy sessions are held once a week, at the same time and on the same day. In exceptional circumstances (which we will discuss in private if necessary) the frequency can be as frequent as once every two weeks. In most cases, however, a two-week interval between sessions slows down the progress of the therapy and sometimes even prevents it from happening. The scheduling of sessions is done in agreement with the patient, taking into account both his or her availability and the availability of the psychotherapist. Exceptions will only be made in exceptional circumstances and even then, no more than one such absence or cancellation of a psychotherapy session within 6 months will be accepted.
To ensure the effectiveness of the therapeutic process, it is extremely important to respect the mutually agreed schedule: it is necessary to arrive at the office on time and leave the office at the end of the time allocated to the session, it is necessary to come regularly to the sessions and also to respect the 1 month break between psychotherapy modules. I assure you that all these requirements have a purpose and that purpose is for your benefit, to ensure the effectiveness of the therapeutic process you are undertaking to undergo. However, if you have any questions or doubts about this organisation, you can write to me, call me or we can discuss them in the sessions.
Therapy termination
Both the patient and the psychotherapist can decide to terminate the therapeutic process at any time and for any reason. However, once the process has begun, terminating it early should be a last resort because all the progress made so far is jeopardized when the interruption is sudden and unexpected.
